![]() Maul is captured by Sidious for becoming a threat, but escapes before the Republic is replaced by the Galactic Empire. He unites various crime syndicates under his leadership, orchestrates a takeover of Mandalore and murders Obi-Wan's lover, Duchess Satine Kryze. Once his mind and body are restored with magick and cybernetics by the Nightsister Mother Talzin, Maul obsessively seeks revenge against Obi-Wan. Fueled by his hatred, Maul survives and is driven insane over a decade of isolation until his brother, Savage Opress, finds him during the Clone Wars. He kills Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn during the Battle of Naboo before being bisected by Qui-Gon's apprentice, Obi-Wan. Since his initial defeat in The Phantom Menace, Maul has become an independent criminal mastermind and endured as Obi-Wan's archenemy.ĭarth Maul is a Zabrak from Dathomir who is abducted by Sidious as a child and trained in the ways of the dark side of the Force. ![]() The character nonetheless reappeared in the 2014 animated series Star Wars Rebels and the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story, voiced again by Witwer Park physically reprised the role in Solo. Star Wars creator George Lucas had intended for the resurrected Maul to serve as the primary antagonist of the sequel film trilogy, but these plans were abandoned when Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. Though seemingly killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi at the end of the film, Darth Maul returned in the 2008 computer animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars (voiced by Sam Witwer). He first appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (portrayed by Ray Park and voiced by Peter Serafinowicz) as a powerful Sith Lord and Darth Sidious' first apprentice. It truly is a great game and one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had let alone in recent times.Darth Maul, also known simply as Maul, is a character in the Star Wars franchise. (I am yet to play the prison DLC) Overall, this game is great and with Dying Light 2 out I just want to step back and bask in the original game's glory before diving into 2. Not all of them because the Hellraiser DLC was amazing but things like the quarantine zone based DLCs, whilst well embedded into the game world, didn't feel like content I would pay for I didn't get it included in my original purchase of the game. My only reason the game doesn't get the 10/10 mark is because they're DLCs were sort of lackluster in places. The game is genuinely such a fun experience. For example, in the climb up the tower to fight Reis I was essentially bhopping around pillars on scaffolding some 30+ floors up. The jumping mechanics allow you to jump the moment Crane hits the floor allowing you chain jumps and perform things that I assume are probably humanly impossible but it is done in a way that isn't game breaking or isn't immersion breaking it adds a rare dynamic to the game that makes the player (or at the very least me) to push the game to see what I'm capable of doing. I don't if this next part was intended but I want to say I am thankful it was never removed. The gameplay itself is also fantastic, the combat system is satisfying, the skill tree allows the player to adopt new abilities into their gameplay but the shinning grail in the gameplay is of course the movement, the freerunning element is something I didn't expect to work but it does amazingly and gives the world a level of fluidity and grandeur that made me want to explore it. I am leaving out many story points because I want people to feel the hype I felt going through this game doing the story and even the side missions create a complete world that is fun and leaves me wanting to do more side missions just so I can find out more about the world. ![]() Reis and Crane come to blows throughout the story many many times leading to a final battle where the two opposing titans finally clash. He is cruel, sadistic and simply a power crazy madman. ![]() Alongside this there is Reis, the main antagonist of the game. As the game progresses the GRE show more and more that they are not concerned with the preservation of the human life and Crane goes rogue to help the people who really need it and tries to make the city worth living in. You, Kyle Crane, working for the GRE a humanitarian organization that appeared in response to the zombie outbreak is sent in to Harran to retrieve a file that has been stolen that they claim will save the world. The game is firstly beautiful and horrific, set in a fictional Middle Eastern territory of Harran. 90% PC**WARNING SPOILERS** Dying Light is the best overall gaming experience I've had in a while.
